The Norwegian Ladies Chorus Fishcake and Meatball dinner is Sunday, MARCH 8, 2009, at 4:30PM, at the Leif Erikson Lodge in Ballard. The August Werner Scholarship fundraiser highlights our famous fishcakes made by Liv, the best fish-caker in the Northwest. Eat until you’re full and then visit the NLC’s fabulous dessert buffet. The ladies will sing a couples songs for you, and Ballard High’s Jazz ensemble will perform, too.
Here is the current list of songs to keep in your folder. If you’re missing one of them, don’t panic, maybe it hasn’t been passed out yet. The main focus here is to cleanse your folder of all the other music. In other words… any song you have in your folder that you don’t see on this list, please remove it and turn it in! This list will be updated periodically.

The king promises his daughter (cN: sister) to Åsmund if he will go north the the country of trolls to get her free. (cN: Åsmund sails there with his two brothers.) Åsmund arrives at the mountain where the princess is, kills a female ogre and takes the princess down to his ship. The ship is gone (cN: with the two brothers on board). Åsmund returns to the mountain, kills a lot of ogres and finds a horse that promises to carry him and the princess if Åsmund will promise to give the horse his right hand. They ride home across the sea. Åsmund cuts the horse’s head off and it turns into a man, the princess’ brother.

~ There are many collections of this ballad. One that is similar to the one we sing can be found here: http://www.forn-sed.no/folkesagn/folkesagn/folkeviser_kvad/3.shtml
It’s all about the music, and the camaraderie, and the fishcakes, and the music. I missed you all sooo much! Please don’t mind my babbling, I’m new to blogging and am just trying to figure out if this format will help me be more effective in communicating. This is not a replacement for the NLC website, but a way for you to check in and see if there’s anything new from the director. Maybe someday there will be a director’s page on the NLC website where you can log in using a password and get the song lists, sheet music perhaps, and listen to recordings of your parts, etc. For right now this will have to do. Happy New Year!
Here is a list of music to turn in! (for starters)
Jeg er så glad,

På låven sitter nissen
Hei Tomtegubber

Still, Still, Still
